Yo!ricon / Yoricon: February 2013
« on: March 13, 2013, 01:19:27 PM »
It works like this: You'll tell us what you think were the three best dubs this month from the 16 dubs (sometimes 20) in order.  From those votes a top 5 monthly will be made.

Judges: DC, Kiro, My-chan, Rina, Wolfy

TIPS:
- Don't stress out about it too much. One of the worst things you can do in dubbing is get all neurotic about something. Pick your three dubs and don't spend too long on it- you'll just get a headache!
- If you're uncomfortable letting people see your results for some reason (IE: Don't want to offend a friend, don't want anyone to know your top dubs are the ones you were involved) PLEASE use the private form! We want COMPLETE HONESTY! And if anyone is bullying people about the Yoricon, let us know about that too.

*If you would like to vote privately please PM me. :D

HPD48 - Kataomoi Finally
Raphie x Eryngo x Michi - ACUTE

See when I get done with school I have to go find a job so then it's just one time consuming thing after another, but I'm so excited to be done with exams and projects and to just stop giving my school more money LOL

I'm a major in IT and my emphasis is web application development which under most schools is Computer Science but they messed up here and are fixing it after I graduate.  And yes for fall, my school likes to do things really early for some odd reason.  We signed up for Fall housing last week.  I think Summer class registration was about a month ago.  We end classes though around the first week of May though which is kind of early for some school's I guess (not 100% sure on this but we get out about a week or two before all of the school's around here normally).

Edit - He finally replied, I got the last spot for the class.  That was really nerve wracking LOL.  Only one more time dealing with registration after this.

It's semesters here.  LOL is it sad that I've already been in both of those situations?  Trying to get into classes after people dropped and talking to teachers to get in and hope they let me are both things I've had to deal with and it's pretty much the worst feeling ever.  I know all of the ins and outs of the frustrations of not getting your classes at this school.  They just should not be problems in the first place especially for every semester since I started at this school.  The only semester I was fine was the first semester of my Freshman year at orientation where they hold your hand and tell you what to take and when.

The second semester of my Freshman year the only reason why I got classes was because my friends who were taking less credits than the cap held them for me until my registration time.  Hopefully it goes okay and the chair emails me back tomorrow morning.  8 spots left!

I'm so excited to be done with college now.

Can you rap?: Yep
Can you do harmonies?: For this song they are really really difficult so I don't know if I can (ooo~ harmonies are really hard for me, which is why I specify other people to do those all the time for my dubs LOL).
Preferred parts: Nana is my favorite girl but I hate having the starting lines in songs.  Nana is still cool though because I want to be Nana in everything.  I like the chorus parts so girls with those parts are cool too.  Or just anyone else.
Anyone you won’t accept?: I don't really want Bekah or JungAh just because I've already been them before in this.  If you want to give me them I won't turn it down but I want to sing someone else.
Audition: This song fits Shampoo the most: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cA_e03qL4ug
But this song shows tons of raps and Korean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZGsM-xm3CU

The problem is that at our school they do it by class for registering.  It goes Honors, Seniors, Juniors, etc.  And it's pretty much you get what you get depending on what's left.  As a Freshman it sucks really bad.  So since I am a Senior I got one of the first registration times.  By tomorrow the spots in this class will be gone.  There's only 8 spots left with just Seniors registering in a Junior/Senior class.  I really hate the way things at my school are run.  You'd think as a Senior classes would get easier to sign up for.

Kind of ridiculous that you took a graduate class and no one told you.  The grad school we have is about a mile from here and they are under different registration times and such so that would be impossible to do here.

I hate registering for courses so much.  The school I choose has way too many people at it for how big it is because in the past few years they accepted too many people.  So we are over capacity and it sucks for registering.  Every single semester I have had some kind of problem with registering, some are small problems some are major and screw me over until I rework my 4 year plan again.  However, approaching my Senior year I don't have room to "rework" anymore.

So I register, I get into two.  Another one my adviser just needs to approve me for because he forgot to but it's okay I got it.  But the last one is so annoying.  So the prerequisite is listed as 3 courses.  You just need to take one of those courses.  So I took it Freshman year, didn't think twice about it right?  I go to sign up for the course but it won't let me.  I call the registrar's office and they told me that one course I took was a typo and it's not a prerequisite.  Really?  So not only is it a typo in my catalog and all of the catalog's after but it's a typo in the course description on the site?  So I email the chair (because this class is not a computer science course but a graphics course I'm required to take).  He replies "...And you are taking this course why?"

...Really?  No I'm just emailing you because it looked like a fun elective.  Since I emailed back there has been no reply.  I need this course and I need it before all of the spots are full.

Archived Projects / [CAST] A new 'unnamed' 5 member girl group
« on: March 11, 2013, 01:05:03 PM »
This was the hardest thing I have ever had to cast and I feel so bad about it!  To do this so I could completely avoid any bias, I had a dubber and a real life friend help me judge.  The criteria was based on Reliability, Mic quality, if you are a “Power Vocal” or lead material, if I can auto tune you, if there were harmonies in the audition (because it’s something I stressed on a lot for this that harmonies were important), and how you would overall fit with everyone else.

The three people also included pick order.  First pick would receive a 100%.  Second pick would get a 90%.  Everyone else would get 80% and the backup pick would get a 75%.  Everyone who got a pick by someone else received a score of 70%.  Even so, there were quite a few even 70% scores across the board even though they didn’t get ranked.  I decided to accept anyone 80% or above and also the person at 78% to go with a 6-member group.  The scores for those who ranked are as follows:

100% (top pick for 3 judges)
83% (Second pick from one judge, picked by other two)
80% (Second pick from one judge, picked by one other)
80% (All 3 choose)
80% (All 3 choose)
78% (Second pick from one judge, runner up by one other)
75% (Picked from one judge, runner up by one other)
75% (Picked from one judge, runner up by one other)
73% (Picked by one)

And the people of my group are as follows:
Ruby
DC
Rina
May
Farrah
Chohee

You will all be getting a PM soon.  Thank you all for the lovely auditions.  If any of you who did or didn’t make it would like your scores and/or overall critiques from all of our judges then please let me know and I will give them to you.

Dub: Umm... LOL is it ok if I give you a few samples?  I don't have anything that I can use for auditions Japanese right now so I'll give a few.

This is Japanese but auto tuned: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5Eq50tUeVA
This is English but shows vocals: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cA_e03qL4ug

I'll take any part!  :D

Reviving this to see if anyone cares about JE anymore.  They got super big in karaoke but when they deleted everything ever JE on YouTube people kind of stopped caring.  Do people still care?

Anyways, Sexy Zone.  Nakajima Kento is my favorite Johnny ever and when he got to debut I was excited.  The first song was cheesy, the second song was kind of bad (it was ok), but the third song is great (which I just now listened too, bad fan oops).

I'm from the Midwest and thought I'd never find weirder weather, but then I moved to northern Kansai and it's the EXACT SAME here. Shiga is officially the Midwest of Japan.

Wow that's crazy.  To think you probably thought you escaped the crazy weather here lol.

---

I'm so glad I took this writing class.  I'm a Communication minor and to complete it I just needed one more higher level class.  I was trying to decide between the technology one (which I like technology and I would have liked the class) and the Rhetorical criticism one.  I know what you guys are thinking.  Technology right?  I took the rhetorical criticism one.  The technology teacher is super nice and amazing but she also expects perfection.  I would have had to do a super difficult research paper that I probably wouldn't do good on because she is a hard grader.  Rhetorical criticism class is with my favorite professor on campus so I took that.  Instead of one difficult long research paper we get four kind of easier short papers.

But the best thing is, as long as it fits the topic we can write on it.  First paper on Les Miserables' I Dreamed a Dream and the second one on Bridge to Terabithia?  Yes please.

Weather in the Midwest is crazy in the wintertime.  So today it was 45 and really nice and sunny outside (45 is really warm for February in Wisconsin).  In the evening it started pouring so hard (the streets were flooded).  Now it's snowing... What?  And not even a dusting it's coming down hard.  Then tomorrow it's supposed to be back down to -18... Really?  Make up your mind weather.
