Why?

Because Melon Kinenbi if awesome and I wanted an excuse to sing some of their stuff.  It's probably some of the most vocally challenging stuff H!P puts out and I like a challenge! 


Who?

YOU!  That's right!  I need three more girls to do this with me!  Now, I'm going to say up front that I'm going to be very VERY picky with auditions and who I'm taking.  You need to be able to harmonize.  I'm not going to give on this at all.  Melon Kinenbi releases feature a lot of harmonizing and while not difficult (as far as I can hear there's no weird 3 or 4 part harmonies) you will need to be able to do it.  Vocally, these aren't as easy as most H!P songs either, so please listen through the selections and make absolutely sure that these are within your abilities vocally.
I'm also going to be looking at mic quality AND line quality for these auditions.  Which I will go into further later on.  Basically, I'm looking to make this a super high quality release.
I'm also looking for people who will be able to meet deadlines.  I won't be hounding people for lines, I'll just cover you.  I know this sounds harsh but it's not worth the headache with a bigger project like this.
I am not taking auditions for specific girls.  I will be casting the entire thing once everyone's auditions are in.


When?

Auditions will be held now through March 17th.  That's a little over one month from now.  After that, I'm going to have line hand-ins on a tier system.  I will find covers for people who miss the first set of due dates and so on, unless they have informed me beforehand that they're going to be needing an extension.

How?

To audition you must do the following:

1.  Sing any solo song of your choice, preferably in Japanese.  Something that shows off your skills as a vocalist.  Impress me ladies!  Please send only boxnet, 4shared, or youtube links for this portion of the audition.  I do not want to be downloading anything extra.  (If you own webspace and can stream with Quicktime that works too )

2.  Send in the following portion of "Seishun on the Road" acappella exactly as you would if you were going to be handing in lines to me.  Also send in the harmony that goes with it as a separate track.  You should be sending me two files.  One with your main set of lines and one with the harmony only.
Here, I'm looking for line quality (you took time to learn your lyrics, lines are on pitch/time, and lines are clean [free of blips, background noise, etc]).

Haha no no.  It's not.  Bad harmony makes me rage too.  I honestly don't hear 3 parts in Kousui (well, I hear Shibata, the girl on the harmony and then some sort of backing so maybe I'm just missing it lol) so there's a good chance I'm just not THAT good at hearing things like this yet.  It's a slow process haha.  For things like male vocals though I'll probably just rip them since girls=/=boy voices no matter how deep of a voice the chick has.

Ok...the verse and the "on the road" harmonies are easy peasy, but I'm having trouble with the chorus.  Is MK doing any harmonies in the chorus, or is it the "The Collectors" harmonies you want us to be doing?

Sorry I should have specified.  You only need to do the verse harmonies and the "seishun on the road" line.  I'm mostly using these to check blending, mic quality and then harmony as well.  So I wanted to hit a couple birds with one stone basically.

AUDITION STILL FORTHCOMING I did discover my old kousui vocal rip and played with it a bit. It IS, in all techncality, three part- you hear the "main" harmony and then a much quieter, higher harmony above that. It's not NEEDED per se, but I played a bit and it sounded pretty cool. Not sending a thing because it was also sharp/flat/whatever all over and I don't have this computer set up for hard core harmony recording session yet (lol if anyone thinks I am good at harmony it is a huge lie because it takes me hoooours). And then in the chorus, there is the Tsunku harmony- however, you won't be able to isolate it. The song is mixed with Ayumi in the main channel and the rest of the harmony together in a separate channel. The Tsunku harmony is the easiest to piece out though. Also the "haaa"s and shit are two part which gets a bit sticky and some of them MIGHT have been three part, I don't know, it was a long time ago. That is my report on Kousui. I hope you enjoyed.

I have the mix this for another project, btw, which is why I did all this stuff. Don't think I am like. Butting in on you exclusively and being obnoxious and like I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS PROJECT BUT DO IT THIS WAY. I mean listening for the three part I did to be helpful but. idk. Am I being creepy? Am I backseat producing? Is this backseat producing? I DON'T KNOW WHO I AM ANYMORE. AAAAAAAAH.

Liana, no worries.  I respect your opinion and since you definitely have more skills with harmonizing and mixing than I do I will take all the help I can get. 

Haha omg, uh yeah, extending deadline since I have no auditions yet.  Do not let the scary "audition" process deter you guys because I am not THAT strict.  I just, want to make sure people blend/can do harmonies if need be.  And you know, sing in general.  But most of you gals here and great singers, so no biggie.
